About this Site

This website is designed to provide a popular synthesis of what is currently known about the Spring Lake complex of archaeological sites, and to present the results of on-going archaeological research. Funding for the website has been provided in part by the City of San Marcos through the Spring Lake Data Recovery Project. Webhosting and platform provided by Texas State University, and designed and maintained by the Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS.)

The Center for Archaeological Studies was founded in 2000 for the purpose of providing Cultural Resource Management services to the University and other local business and government entities via contract in accordance with state and federal antiquities laws, and to provide training for students interested in careers in archaeology. In 2009, CAS was certified by the Texas Historical Commission as a Curatorial Facility. The Curatorial Facility currently houses over 100 archaeological collections, Held-in-Trust for the State of Texas. Additionally, CAS provides a variety of training opportunities for students at Texas State University, including volunteerism, research opportunities, student employment opportunities, and internships.
