AMS Dating of Bone Samples
Three bone samples from the Early Archaic component were submitted for AMS dating. Two of these dates (195-1 and 227-10) help to create a more precise temporal record for the Calf Creek Horizon at the Spring Lake Site.
The third date came from a bone sample (248-4) that was recovered from a level also containing two Paleoindian projectile points. However, this date (5905 years before present) does not fit within the established date range for Paleoindian, which is 8,800-13,500 years ago. This suggests that this context is likely disturbed and not reliable for chronological reconstructions.
